DR. VIJAY BHATKAR
Dr. Vijay Bhatkar is an internationally acknowledged scientist of India best known for leading the development of India’s first supercomputer Param in 1990 and bringing ICT to the common people and to schools through MKCL and ETH. He is credited with the creation of several national research labs and institutions, such as C-DAC, ETH Research Lab and Multiversity etc. Dr. Bhatkar has served as a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the PM and on the PM’s IT Task Force 1998. Dr. Bhatkar has authored/edited over 12 books and 80 papers. He was conferred the Padmashri Award in 2000, the Electronics Man of the Year Award 1992 and the Distinguished Alumni Award 1994 of IIT Delhi. Dr. Bhatkar is presently the Chairman of Board of Governors of IIT-Delhi and is leading the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, India’s national initiative of connecting IITs and other leading academic institutions to villages of India. His association with GREAT Foundation goes back to 2002.
Dr. Saroj Virkar
Saroj has served as Director, Vidya Pratisthan’s Faculty of Education, Baramati and Director, MIT Colleges of B.Ed. She is a Masters in Sociology with an M.Ed and PH.D from degree from Poona university. She is a Training and Consultancy expert in the areas of Management, Administration and Education and has offered numerous Teacher Competency Building Programs across Maharashtra. She is a trained Assessor for NAAC for the assessment of Colleges of Education in the country. She has been a member of the National Consultative Committee on Teacher Education formed by NCTE and NAAC. She has taught at Jonkoping University, Sweden as a nominee of Pune University and is the recipient of the Best Administrator Award from Tilak College of Education, Pune. She is Advisory Board member and Educational Consultant to GREAT Foundation.
Mary D’ Souza
Mary is an MA in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work, TISS, Mumbai and Founder and Coordinator of the Aditi Learning Centre (ALC), in village Khusgaon, MavalTaluka, Maharashtra. ALC’s team is committed to extending the reach of education and improving its quality by enabling women to finish their class 10 and 12 examinations. Their aim is to better equip them to actively participate in society as engaging parents of children between the ages of 0 to 3 years to provide a rich and interactive environment for the growth and development of their children. ALC also provides basic literacy and mathematics classes for children of migrant labour and for those currently not in school. She has been on the Advisory Board of GREAT Foundation since 2007.
Sangeeta Ganapathy has spent around 30 years working with various companies doing different types of jobs. She started her career coding retail banking software for financial institutions in Tata Unisys, then moved on to Citibank and worked in custody operations. She took a sabbatical and helped her parents in their instant food business and now runs a business research company called ValueNotes, with her husband, Arun Jethmalani. She has always been interested in alternative wellness modalities and is a certified yoga teacher, hypnotherapist and Qigong teacher. Qigong is now a passion and she conducts regular Qigong classes, does Qigong energy healing, EFT (tapping) healing and writes a wellness blog – namya.in Her association with GREAT Foundation dates back to 2010.
