DSC0030-2VINEY KIRPAL

Viney decided to become a teacher soon after she started her schooling at CJM, New Delhi in 1953. Such was the influence of the school on her! Holder of the Masters (University Topper) and PHD degrees in English from Poona University, she was Professor and HOD of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department at IIT Bombay where she worked for 23 years. Her close encounters with the complexities of inclusive education in an institute of excellence showed her the dearth of quality education in the lives of those who study in free schools and made her found GREAT Foundation to fill that gap. Author/editor of 10 books and over 90 articles she has served on the panels of UGC, ICSSR and IGNOU. She has pioneered and trained over 7500 teachers through her Effective Teaching and Writing Your Thesis programs.

utpala_joshiUTPALA JOSHI

At the age of seven, Utpala spent one year in a village school before returning to education in larger cities. She went on to become an Electronics Engineer and has had a long corporate career in India and abroad. That one year has remained with her as a testimony of education to the masses. She has learnt that though hardships abound, the innate desire to learn combined with the infectious enthusiasm of students is a sustaining force in basic education. Utpala wishes to connect with this enthusiasm and help make learning fun for underprivileged students.
